Hi, I’m Joelle—a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Morning Glory Counseling Services. My passion for mental health care began unexpectedly in an Abnormal Psychology class at Cape Fear Community College. What started as a curiosity about the mind, body, and brain quickly turned into a life’s calling.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University, where I developed a strong foundation in the principles of social justice, community engagement, and client-centered care. Initially drawn to addiction and substance use disorders, I later discovered my deeper calling through the HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) scholarship program—a distinction awarded to students committed to serving underserved and high-need communities. This opportunity included specialized training, practicum work with at-risk youth in rural areas, and collaborative peer learning. It was through this hands-on experience that my commitment to becoming a mental health therapist was solidified.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relational issues. My approach blends evidence-based practices with compassion, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity, always tailored to the unique needs of each client. I’m deeply passionate about creating safe, inclusive spaces for healing and growth.
Outside of the therapy room, you’ll often find me fishing, hunting, walking the beach, or spending time outdoors. I love my pets, value time with family, and dream of one day traveling the world—immersing myself in new cultures and experiences that continue to shape how I see the world and connect with others.
